The bodyshell was scanned as separate components, body, doors, bonnet, boot, etc then reassembled into a complete assembly.
In the first stage the scan mesh was auto-surfaced to quickly generate working CAD data for packaging and chassis design. As required later, areas of the scan could be post processed to recreate high quality surface models for bodywork regeneration.
As an additional benefit the customer has retained the scan as “digital insurance” should they need to reproduce the body tooling in future.
